16 Jun PAUL STEPHENSON – REPORTRAIT
Paul Stephenson has been working in collaboration with 12 other artists for the ‘Reportrait’ exhibition. The exhibition in Nottingham is on show from 27th May to 10th September 2017.
The show explores artist’s work who re-imagine historical sources, altering the image in order to re-define the ‘portrait’. Paul Stephenson’s work shows how classical portraiture can remain relevant in contemporary art.
Stephenson’s work plays with the disfiguring of classical paintings by branding them with contemporary images, such as the internet, watermarks, and literal reflections of the modern world.
The works featured here were part of Paul Stephenson’s solo show at StolenSpace on 4th August 2016, titled ‘Forced Collaboration’.
